Formally known as BNA (Berry Field Nashville), the
airport's name was changed to Nashville International
Airport in 1988. Nashville Airport, a spacious 750,000-square-foot,
state-of-the-art passenger terminal, is served by
17 carriers and provides nonstop and air service to
nearly 84 cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Fifty-one
of these cities are served nonstop.
Expanded and developed over the years, the airport
can meet ever-increasing demand. Nashville International
is the center for general aviation, with 186-based
aircraft and two fixed-base operators. Tennessee Air
National Guard, one of the largest Air National Guard
facilities in the country, resides in this very Airport.
The Airport is located 8 miles from downtown Nashville
and covers more than 4,460 acres of land. Presently,
17 scheduled airlines serve the airport, 9 of which
have entered into Signatory Airport Airline Agreements
with the Authority for the use and lease of airport
facilities and payments to assure the fiscal integrity
of the airport.
